October is National Chiropractic Health Month. The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) has launched the campaign #Chiropractic1st to promote the use of conservative musculoskeletal care before turning to addicting pain medications. Americans represent 4.6% of the world’s population, however, consume 80% of the global opioid supply. Help end the Opioid Epidemic in America by trying #Chiropractic1st!
I have been treating an expecting mother, Steph, with Chiropractic care once a month. This is her second child. When carrying her first, without Chiropractic care, she had what she called a “Dead Leg”, no feeling in her leg, as well as moderate to severe low back and hip pain. Adding Chiropractic care while carrying her second, Steph reported she has little to no back pain and no “Dead Leg” either! I have also been using Kinesiotape to support her back and lower abdomen. Here is some feedback Steph emailed me:
“So far I really like the tummy tape.
What small amount of stretchy pain I was experiencing I haven’t felt since being taped. It just feels like good added support. Especially in my workouts I don’t feel like I might be stretching or ready to tear any muscles.”
“Just checking in to say the tape really is helping. I was having some pelvic pain and pressure that was starting to concern my Dr. She was going to start placing restrictions. But since you’ve taped my belly I haven’t had as many or long lasting issues. Also happy to report no back pain at all.”

May is National Athritis Awareness Month and is a great time to shine a light on the fact that arthritis is the most common cause of disability in adults in the United States. By 2030, the number of adults affected with doctor-diagnosed arthritis is projected to reach 67 million, or 25% of the adult population. How many of you have already been told you have arthritis? And what does that mean for you and your wallet?
According to The United States Bone and Joint Initiative “per-person expenditures for osteoarthritis and allied disorders was $11,029 averaged for the years 2008 to 2011. Aggregate medical expenditures for the estimated 30.8 million persons with osteoarthritis and allied disorders in the United States averaged $340 billion in each of the years 2008 to 2011.” The average medical expenditure per-person for those suffering from arthritis is over $11,000 per year!!! Not only is this expensive for your wallet but think about what it costs in terms of lack of mobility, lack of function and decreased quality of life!! Those are big prices to pay in addition to the financial burden!!
Don’t become a statistic that you read about! Do allow your body to function and have a quality life with quality chiropractic care that maintains a well functioning musculoskeletal system.
